I like the shape of it - good work!

Yes, it's a great design. I do like the way that the courtyard and The Tin Child form the eye. Well done. One thing though: Whereabouts is the 'corridor between 42B and the north turret', as mentioned in the 'Corridors' section? (Or does the school shift into new designs, like the Dungeon?)

I actually have no idea about where to put the corridor - I think that was a creation of one of the students, was it not? Obviously it exists I shall work on this!!!

According to the info which you set out previously on the locations of the houses - Lily-Thorne - tower in north wing Nettle-Rose - tower in south wing Fern-Camomile - tower in east wing - North on your map is... --->N ...that way. (P.S. The school has 6 guests & 2 members at this moment! A record?)

All right all right - I had it all planned properly before I drew it so there must be some logic to it. Can't account for all Norths, you know!
8 in here at once? Good grief!

No problem: I was just enthusiastic about demonstrating to myself that the map is consistent with the prior info!
If you wish, I will frame the map and hang it in the library (but without one of those shopping centre 'you are here' giant red arrows!).

LOL! Ooh...pehaps it could be a bit like that harry potter map...only without all the extra info such as who the persons are! Just a load of golden dots roaming the map?

The Harry Potter map - please could you explain? I've only read the first book, and haven't watched the films.

Ah - its in the later books. It is the Marauders map and it shows the school on an a5 piece of paper, and everyone in the school is a moving dot labelled with their name and speech bubbles tell you what to do etc.

Interesting. I wonder if JKR had been playing a lot of city-building computer games when she 'thought that up'...
Still, if you want one of those in the Heads' Office, that's your prerogative. Or, you could just settle for a spyglass system...
If you're in an HP mood, though, could you explain who or what Marauders are?

The marauders are; *Spoiler* Mr Prongs (Harry Potter's father, James Potter) Mr Mooney (Remus Lupin) Mr Padfoot (Sirius Black) Mr Wormtail (Peter Pettigrew) This four were at Hogwarts school together and liked to sneak around as Remus is a werewolf and the other three can transform into a different animal. They created the map to help them with their sneaking. *Spoiler*

Personally, I don't see that as a spoiler - in fact, it may encourage me to read more of the books! Remus Lupin... Remus, one of the twins from Roman mythology who was cared for by a she-wolf; lupus, the Latin for wolf... and Remus Lupin is a werewolf, you say? JK Rowling is not the only one to have done a degree in Classics, you know! (Except that she's made a few million pounds more out of it than I have! )
