*Rob surveys the tattered ruins that were once a proud library*
Rob: Well, it is indeed a sad day for this school. The package was a magical explosion sent by Scareye to assassinate the real me, thankfully I'm just a double. *the double looks rather resentful as he says these words* Still almost all the school is damaged heavily and we must evacuated it before further damage is done.

This Scareye is going to pay not only for the school but for the assasination of our deputy.

Maybe this chamber can be restored structurally, by people with the appropriate skills - but as a library, it has perished. A few books have survived - but they are traumatised by what has happened, and I doubt they will serve anyone usefully ever again. *To illustrate this point, Callimpsest picks up an intact volume - Ovid's Medea - and tries to open it. It is shut tightly. His hands become sore, and he drops the book.* *A large collection of thin books rests in a heap in one corner of the library ( www.talkknightmare.co.uk/forum/yabb/YaBB.cgi?board=4;action=display;num=1073926725), but they are in tatters.* All the other books... are mutilated. Torn, ripped. Putting them back and using them would be like... *Callimpsest shudders* ...necrophilia. It cannot be done. Bury them all, or cremate them - let their lives draw to an end. Perhaps if the library is rebuilt in time, I will return. But as things stand, I have nothing to offer you. I thank you for your hospitality, but I think I will be going shortly. If we are all evacuating the School together, I may wait. *Callimpsest returns to emptying the desk.*

Rob: Motley, the real me has not perished otherwise this shadow would go with him. I doubt a jester would be able to do anything against Scareye except provide a target. As for Callimpsest, you are correct. These books will serve of little use to you now. If you wish to stay then I am sure new books could be gathered, the Grail Chapter in the Netherworlds has a library overflowing with books, they would give us some if the real me asked nicely
*Looks hopefully at Callimpsest*

*Callimpsest looks up, forlorn, but does not quite meet Rob's gaze*
Has the Netherworld not caused this school enough trouble? No offence to your good self, of course.

*Even for a double then the double of Rob seems to be filled with sadness*
Rob: The Netherworlds are changing a great deal these days, I fear that they may never be as great as they once were again. The trouble is not caused by the good people who wish to aid us but by those who wish to see the world destroyed and all good lie in ruins.

*Ringmasterrob does not appear to hear Motley nor to be aware of much around him, his eyes are stained with tears and his usual optomism has faded. In a forest clearing, the real archmage, accompanied by a hobo magician the real Rob also feels that weird sense of depression. Suddenly the double comes to it's senses*
Rob: What are we to do then?

*looks grave* "Is there any way we can persuade you to stay my friend? I know it will take time to rebuild and recuperate the school, but I believe we will need you're expertise in rebuilding the library... "
*Morwena lands gently on Callimpsest's shoulder and keens gently in his ear.*

Ringmasterrob said that we must evacuate the School. I need to know more.

Rob: Yes Headmistress, I have checked and the school walls are no longer safe, we must evacuate until we can get the stonework repaired. I believe there are some students still in Nettle-Rose common room. Follow me!
*Rob heads off in the direction of Nettle Rose tower.*

*The piece of masonry catches Callimpsest on the foot. He winces in pain, and decides it is time to go. He piles up as many books and part-books as he can, so that they can be disposed of as he requested.* *Callimpsest murmurs a farewell to the bibliographical morgue that was once his library. He decides to head into Wolfenden village, where he can arrange passage to safer climes, blend in with the hustle and bustle, or perhaps make contact with an old acquaintance - an ogre called Young Grimwold - who has recently moved to the village.* Perhaps I will return, if I hear better news of this place and a renewed need of my services. But the Library was the reason I came, and right now, it is the reason I leave. *Callimpsest picks his way out of the Library, out of the School, and is gone.* [OOC: Callimpsest would reach Wolfenden in the Knightmare Roleplay Forum thread Swopping Stories.]
