STUD!
STUD!
Oh, no, sorry, I-I wasn't addressing you, hoho. I was just dispelling DUST. It's got ever so dusty in here. Some of these books are half as old as time, and yet their potencies, for good or ill, are trapped under strata of dust. I shall have to keep cleaning, and see what turns up. Now, where was I?
STUD!

*Despells dust around several shelves* Thank you for your assistance. But this is a library, so do watch your spelling, please... Cracked walls you say? Let me see... Oh dear. I haven't any means to mend the cracks, magic or otherwise; I wonder if it's a problem elsewhere in the school? Until we know more, I shall keep the library open, and do my best to ignore the cracks...

Very funny! ;D But, er, seriously now, some of the books get quite upset if they detect not-so-good English (or Latin) within the library. One book has refused to open ever since I misplaced an apostrophe; another shed half its pages in horror when I used 'to' instead of 'too'. So let us be careful - we need those books on our side, so to speak.

Well, if you want to write a book about your experiences... *indicates a gap at the end of a nearby shelf*
I am here, dusting and library-keeping, should anyone need me.

Post deleted. Apologies for the delay in deleting it, but I wasn't around to realise it had caused offence. I'm sorry about the book grabbing.

*Due to the exploded package (http://kmbs.proboards12.com/index.cgi?board=advanced&action=display&thread=1072633144&start=0) Several chunks of ceiling falling to the library floor have caused havok amongst the books and the librarian who is hiding under the desk watches in horror as a shelf of his beloved tomes are crushed under a larger chunk.*

*Some time later... Callimpsest, sensing that the danger is over for now, picks his way out from under his desk. He shifts a few chunks of masonry out of the way, but the door is blocked. He looks round. The place is in ruins: writhing with dust (though, granted, it was dusty beforehand), with most of the books torn and crushed under fallen shelving and masonry.*
The poor books...
*The library was Callimpsest's sine qua non, but it appears to be beyond salvation. Any arcane secrets that could help the School out of trouble, and even the basic knowledge that students might need for their studies - if any students and teachers have survived - seem to have been destroyed. With nothing to offer, Callimpsest considers a polite exit from the Knightmare Boarding School. Though for now, a polite exit from the room itself is impossible. Callimpsest sits on the floor and fights back tears.*

*A group of students remove the rubbles from the door and accompanied by the illusion Ringmaster get the door open*
Illusion RMR: *to Callimpsest* Good lord, these books are ruined. This explosion has cost the school greatly in more than one sense. Are you yourself alright Librarian?

Yes, Ringmaster, I believe I'm intact, physically speaking. But I'm... most upset at what has happened to the Library. If you've any idea at this point what happened to the School, please share what you know. I have some... enemies myself, and I hope it wasn't their doing. That pegathor, leaving so suddenly... surely it was an omen?
*Callimpsest pauses for several deep, shaky breaths, then continues.*
I came to this school to tend the Library and its wisdom - and I fear that without it, I have nothing to offer. But... I shall not desert you yet; if you feel I can render any assistance before I go, let me know.
*Callimpsest moves behind the desk, and begins to transfer a few personal trinkets from the chipped drawers to his pockets.*

Callimpsest, I'll help you at all costs to restore your library. I know that, if we do restore it, it will not be the same.
But give me a simple instruction and I will give you and RMR a hand into putting everything back together.
